The Steam Circuit
The W. C Daldy relies on a limited supply of treated fresh water to power
her engines. Steam produced in the boilers is delivered to the main engines
through insulated pipes. The waste steam is then cooled in the condenser to
a liquid state with the aid of seawater. The condensate is sucked out of the
condeser with a set of wier pumps and held in
holding tanks under the engineroom floor. The water is pre-heated and returned
to the boilers by another set of wier pumps.
All auxiliry steam driven devices (steering engine, winches, pumps, etc) also
return waste steam to the condenser for reuse.
